The festivities will soon be under way for the annual Christmas on Liberty.

I was coming through town as I saw them moving Santa's house in and decorating the tree.

Join us in beautiful, historic downtown Waynesboro for our annual Christmas on Liberty Square Victorian-era festival.
Family fun with activities for all ages, and plenty of Christmas cheer! Vendors provide plenty of hot chocolate, cider and goodies and DOOR provides a ton of fun!
It promises to be a great evening filled with exciting events and period costumes.
You won't want to miss Santa Claus as he makes his entrance on the fire truck and opens the evening's festivities.

Please note that there is plenty of public parking available on Myrick and Shadrack Streets which flank Liberty Street.

Saturday October 10, 2009 Kicks off the first of the Waynesboro GA concert series with “Johnny Mercer..Too Marvelous for Words”
The concert will begin at 7:30 at the Burke County Office Park. If you haven’t got your tickets its not to late to get them from Southern Bank.
Robert Ray’s hit musical revue, Johnny Mercer Too Marvelous for Words, celebrates the 100th anniversary of the birth of Mercer, a native of Savannah, Georgia, and one of America’s greatest Lyricists.
It will be a great show for the whole family. Hope to see you there!!

We are so excited here in Waynesboro Ga The infamous Burke County Bears are 3_ for our Football season.
The Waynesboro Ga Community is coming out in droves for tomorrows “Black Out Game”.
According the the Co Captain of the Cheerleaders the Spirit is High and the Community is Pumped.
I was so proud to hear her say that we all Support our Burke County Bears whether they win or lose. Great Sportsmanship in our Waynesboro Schools.
I am proud to have my children in such a great school district!!!

The Farm Fest is one of my favorite Waynesboro GA events, next to The Boss Hog Cook off. I just love BBQ!!
So….Mark your calendar for the Waynesboro Shrine Club Farm Festival Saturday, Sept. 19 at the Southern Bank Pavilion and Complex at the corner of Liberty and Ninth streets.
The "Racks by the Tracks" amateur cook-off is sponsored by Southern Bank. It's time for grilling teams to get fired up for the third annual Racks by the Tracks.
There will be Arts and Crafts and other various vendors. The vendors and crafters will be available from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on the day of the event.
The parade will be at 11 a.m. in downtown Waynesboro.
It promises to be great fun and food for the whole family. Be sure to look for the FFA booth as my daughter will be selling Carmel Apples and Lemonade!

Bird Dog breakaway 5K Run & 2 Mile Walk

The 5K Run and 2 Mile Walk are to benefit the Center for New Beginnings, a ministry to special needs children located in Waynesboro Ga. Events include a 1 Mile Derby Dash for children ages 6 – 12, the 50 Yard Pup Trot for 5 and under will follow the 5 K. T-shirts will be given to all participants and thee will be awards in all races. Water will provided along the course and fruit/granola bars and powerade will be provided at the finish.

Burke County, Waynesboro Schools Achieve USDA Recognition

Burke County, GA—Three Burke County schools were recognized Thursday morning by the U.S. Department of Agriculture for being outstanding nutrition environments.
Blakeney Elementary School, Sardis-Girard-Alexander Elementary School, and Waynesboro Primary School met the challenge.
The schools took steps to improve their nutrition program and address obesity.

Sardis Frog Wallow Festival on Saturday Sept 12th

On Sept. 12, the Sardis Old School Restoration Committee will have another Frog Wallow Festival at the old Sardis High School.

Sardis Ga located in southern Burke County will be hopping this Saturday with the annual Frog Wallow Fun Fest. The annual festival will kick off with a parade through downtown at 9 a.m., and the rest of the day will be filled with entertainment, games, carnival rides, car Show, bingo, barbecue, arts and crafts, and a street dance starting at 8 p.m.
This festival is Free and Everyone is invited to attend and enjoy the fun, food and fellowship. All proceeds of the day will be used to further the restoration of the school buildings.

I have already received numerous emails asking about rental properties in the Waynesboro Ga and areas surrounding communities. I do know of 1 current possibility I will speak to the owner and see if we can get a flyer up on this home in Millen Ga.

I do realize that there is a huge shortage of rentals within the area for folks coming to work at Plant Vogtle. I will do my very best to try to find owners that would want to rent rather than sell at this time. This Waynesboro Georgia blog is meant to inform, enlighten, wet the pallet and share with you everything that is available, from restaurants to housing, businesses to schools, you will be able to find everything your heart desires to know about Waynesboro. This endeavor I am hoping to make interactive so that you are able to have a lot of input from various residents of Burke county.

Waynesboro is the county seat of Burke County, home of numerous industries with the most talked about being Southern Company’s Plant Vogtle.

Plant Vogtle has recently received authorization to build two new Reactors brining the total to four. They currently employ 1900 people, when completed it is expected to double that work force. During the construction Period an estimated 7000 to 10000 workers are expected to call Waynesboro Ga home for seven to ten years.

I will also share with you information about the surrounding counties of Screven and Jenkins, as there are some great hometown places to visit there.
